INDIE ELECTRO POP ARTIST BRDN ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF NEW SINGLE “A VOW” ON FEBRUARY 12
Rising indie-electro pop artist BRDN will release their haunting and cinematic new single, “A Vow,” on February 12. Combining glacial electronic beats with sweeping orchestral elements, “A Vow” explores the raw intersection of regret, heritage, and the fragile hope for renewal.
Inspired by the evocative soundscapes of Woodkid and SOHN and rooted in the artist’s heritage, “A Vow” weaves a tale of human frailty and the lingering shadows of the past and their long lasting impact. The track opens with a subdued, almost mournful energy, growing into a thunderous chorus that layers vocal timbres and textures, culminating in an emotional tempest.
A Reckoning with the Past
At its core, “A Vow” is a reflection on moments of guilt, the damage left behind, and the yearning for redemption. In the second half of the song, the plea for a new beginning clashes with the understanding that some parts of the self cannot be cleansed easily and are so deeply rooted, that trying alone might drain all of a mortal’s energy.
“Some of my weakest moments feel inherited,” BRDN explains. “I often think about the coal, ash, and fire my ancestors lived through, and how that grit—both the strength and the damage—might still echo in me. “A Vow” is an apology, but it’s also a reckoning with the burdens of the past that often weigh heavy on me.
A Sonic Yearning
With its cold electronic drumbeat, lush synth layers, and orchestral flourishes, “A Vow” creates a soundscape that feels both expansive and intimate. The love for an analogue and organic studio production, is audible during the whole track. The vocals mirror this progression, moving from restrained and reflective to a cathartic explosion of voices in the grand finale. Being the lead of vocal production for the first time, core band member and vocalist Sofia Cavazzoni takes centre stage and presents a vulnerable and intense performance in the main hook. The dynamic contrasts in tone and texture make the song feel like an emotional unraveling, carried by a steady undercurrent of yearning.
Connecting Emotion and Innovation
For fans of artists like Lana Del Rey, Moderat, and James Blake, “A Vow” offers a bold and unflinching look at vulnerability through the lens of genre-defying artistry. BRDN’s fearless approach to storytelling and sound invites listeners to feel deeply and confront the shadows within themselves.
Artist bio
In their blend of alt pop and electronica, artist-producer BRDN (pronounced burden), combines powerful synth-structures and dreamy guitars with soft vocal sequences and driving beats. Superimposed vocals in different vocal colours lay over the music like a broken yet mesmerising veil. Woven soundscapes take the listener to the dark side of introspection: self-doubt and the golden hunt for a purpose melt into musical fever dreams with room for interpretation.
Live-performances, usually presented as a duo, are intimate, “fragile & genuine” and open a direct window into the artist’s inner workings and showcase the artist’s ability to effortlessly jump between genre and tone without losing the core quality of this eclectic project.

Lyrics
Somewhere in the depths
Waiting in the dark
It’s stalking for a challenge
Taste of ash and boiling blood
Brick by brick
Eye for eye
Brick for brick
Trial by fire
Oh, love stop the pleading
The demon´s contained
Stacking the pyre
And we’re on our way
Standing hand in hand now
As we take to the skies
You and me weightless
I’d pay every price
Oh, love stop the pleading
The demon´s contained
Stacking the pyre
And we’re on our way
Standing hand in hand now
As we take to the skies
You and me weightless
I’d pay every price
I’d pay every price
