genre-bending artpop & electronica
In their blend of alt pop and electronica, artist-producer BRDN (pronounced burden), combines powerful synth-structures and dreamy guitars with soft vocal sequences and driving beats. Superimposed vocals in different vocal colours lay over the music like a broken yet mesmerising veil. Woven soundscapes take the listener to the dark side of introspection: self-doubt and the golden hunt for a purpose melt into musical fever dreams with room for interpretation.
Live-performances, usually presented as a duo, are intimate, “fragile & genuine” and open a direct window into the artist’s inner workings and showcase the artist’s ability to effortlessly jump between genre and tone without losing the core quality of this eclectic project.
Partly produced in the studio and partly in the bedroom, BRDN has been releasing songs as an indie artist since 2022, with a clear focus on a warm analog production, for both music and vocals.
The debut EP “Ascension”, was released in spring of 2023 following the release of a couple of singles later that year.
In 2024, BRDN expanded their discography further with the release of the slow-paced ‘Burrow’, the intimate chamber pop ballad ‘Feather’, guitar heavy indie pop song “Number 9”, danceable indietronica song “Underneath” and “Santa Maria”, a contemporary electronica production borrowing elements from slower paced techno and alt pop.
While releasing new material constantly, BRDN brought their engaging live-performance to cities in three different countries, including playing the Pinguin Radio Showcase during the Eurosonic Groningen 2024 and two headliner shows in Berlin.
Operating fully independently, the artist announced a string of releases in 2025, starting with the heavy cinematronica piece “A Vow”, released on the 12th of February.
For the summer 2025, BRDN is planning to continue to play “everywhere we can!” and will be announcing some dates in the near future.
